Gill is a Social Enterprise Ambassador appointed by the Social Enterprise Coalition. It’s an initiative supported by Government to encourage a greater understanding of what social enterprise can achieve.

Gill is one of 50 ambassadors in the country – alongside some people you might have heard of – like Tim Smit from the Eden Project and Apprentice winner Tim Campbell – and many others who may not be so familiar but who are doing fantastic things up and down the UK.

We think that one reason that Gill was chosen is that they recognised how hard we’re working at Angels to make a difference to the people we work with. It’s pretty well recognised now that if you offer people services which help them to keep on living at home – like cleaning, shopping or gardening – then there’s less chance that they’ll need more intensive support from Social Services or the NHS for example. That’s better for people themselves – and also makes a lot of sense for society as a whole.

As a Social Enterprise Ambassador, Gill's keen to get out to talk with people about social enterprise. If you’re putting on an event – whether it’s an enterprise day at a school, a networking event for entrepreneurs, or a conference for procurement people – please get in touch by emailing us see also www.socialenterpriseambassadors.org.

Angels has recently applied for funding to the Equality and Human Rights Commission to enable us to extend our advocacy services. Currently we can only offer these services to existing customers but there are so many people out there who would benefit hugely from our help.

We started an evaluation of our advocacy services in January of this year and the results have surprised even us! We are on track to claim £100,000 of benefits for our customers this year and so far we have a 100% success rate with Attendance Allowance applications.
